See this magnificent waterfall in all seasons, with two hiking trails to the foot of the waterfall (beginner) and up to the mouth (intermediate). Alslso enjoy riverside Nagashi Somen at the local restaurant.

This is the ultimate exploration park for all kids and ages. Cascading waterfalls, shallow streams, BBQ areas, kids park, and a whole lot of fun for the day. Free to enter, and so much to enjoy. Water wear advised. 

A beautifully modern aquarium located on the Joetsu coastline as tones throw from the beach. Perfectly sized for a morning or afternoon tour. See dolphins, penguins, and a whole lot more marine life. 

The five spiritual shrines are one of the best kept secrets of this area. A breathtaking 2km trail lined with 400 year old cedar trees is truly a magical experience to enjoy, rich in Japanese culture and nature.

One of Nagano's power spots is Zenjenkoji temple. The streets leading to the temple are lined with beautiful cafes, sweet shops, souveniers, and restaurants. Accessible by car or train from Iiyama station.

Water sports for the summer heat. Although Madadarao is cool and fresh in the summer, there is always time for watersports. Nozomi lake now offers kayak tours but lake Nojiri is a special place!

Biwa island is a perfect way to put your watersports skills to the test. You can SUP or kayak to the island, but there is always an easier option. Daily ferry rides or boat rental are also available too.

Not to be missed! Possibly one of the best icecream in Japan. Fresh vanilla milk soft cream and homemade blueberry soft serve topped with fresh blueberries from the garden. OPeen daily until 16:45.

Strap your whole family in and take on this incredible tree course one at a time. Lotte's tree course is the ultimate adventure for the summer days. Also enjoy the outdoor pool, slides, and climbing walls.

You can also spend a day at the beach! We regularly take weekly trips to the beach to enjoy all of the unique scenery that this area has to offer. Enjoy the beach huts and restaurants during the summer months.

On a clear evening in Madarao the stars and skies are just incredible. With minimal light pollution obstructing the night sky the stars come out in full force. ** Hot tip - Carpark NO.8 is a perfect viewing spot.
