Selecting our creatives.
Every season we will be hand-selecting Japan-based creatives to showcase their work within our hotel for the viewing pleasures of our guests. Onpoint Madarao has beautiful walls and spaces ideal for showcasing artists' works.
We are not just looking for Japanese artists but creatives living in Japan, with a deep connection to the Japanese culture or deep rooted connections to nature.
Not only will we be showcasing a selected creative's work but we will also be offering a space for artists to sell their work.
We hope that during your visit with us you will be able to take some time to sit back and enjoy the collections on display.

About Ben.
I am a Freelance Commercial Photographer specializing in Travel, Documentary, Event and Portrait Photography. Originally from the UK, I grew up in London and then Cornwall in England. I currently live and work in Tokyo, Japan.
I started my photographic career in the music industry, in London in the mid 2000’s where I worked with a variety of artists and music publications. In 2008 I relocated to the rural setting of Nagano, in Japan to learn about Japanese language and culture. Two years later I relocated once again, to Tokyo, where I am now settled and working as a full-time freelance photographer. I work with a variety of clients in Japan and abroad, my main areas of focus are assignments related to Japanese travel, tourism and culture.
I also take on portraiture assignments, and work with both Japanese and international event organizers, covering a wide range of events in Tokyo and beyond.

Aside from freelance photography I also run a small business selling Fine Art Prints from my studio in Tokyo. All images are shot, printed, and framed by myself, ready to be shipped around the world.

Working extensively in the Japanese travel industry for a number of years has afforded me the opportunity to visit a plethora of interesting and beautiful places, both on and off the beaten track, allowing me to shoot a range of locations, people, and unique elements of Japanese culture. A selection of these images are available to buy as framed prints at my online print shop here.
In my spare time, I like hiking, mountain sports, and exploring forgotten places. I speak both English and Japanese.
