LAKE NOZOMIKO
Lake Nozomiko.
Conveniently located just a 20-minutes walk from Onpoint Madarao, the breathtaking Lake Nozomiko lies waiting for you. Follow the trails around the lake at your own leisure and connect to the expansive Numanohara marsh.
Madarao has an abundance of mountain hiking trails and hiking them in the winter is one of our favorite things to do here at Onpoint Maadarao, especially the daily hike down to lake Nozomiko and Numanohara marsh. The hike can take anywhere from 20- 30 minutes depending on your speed and pace. Following the marked trees will take you through the meandering forest trails and bring you out at the lakeside edge.
In the heart of the winter from mid-January to the end of February, the lake will be invisible to the naked eye and look more like any other snow-covered grassland. But don't be fooled it is definitely there.
On a good season and the right temperature, the lake is easily crossable and you will most probably see footprints that you will be able to follow. But if you are not up to the task and would like a guide, it can most definitely be arranged for you in advance from our hotel.

The trails around the lake are approximately 2.5km and will take 120-minutes on foot. Connecting trails lead to the marshlands where you can spend much longer exploring the landscapes.

This area boasts incredible natural beauty so take your time to absorb the natural surroundings and fill your lungs with the fresh reviving air. Lake Nozomiko is a perfect place for some fantastic photo opportunities so don't forget your camera.
If you would like to use our snowshoes then we recommend bringing a pair of waterproof boots or hiking shoes. Trainers and regular leather shoes are not advised as your feet will take in water very early on and will most probably become very uncomfortable.
